2015 Tour July 12th
10am until 5pm
The 2015 Garden Tour will include 7 lovely gardens in Fenton, Holly and Linden.
Founded in 1992, The Open Gate Garden Club of Michigan has 130 members, both men and women.
They reside in the communities of Byron, Burton, Chelsea, Fenton, Flint, Gaines, Grand Blanc, Holly, Linden, and Swartz Creek.
Diversity in membership includes advanced master gardeners, master gardeners and apprentices, and home gardeners. New members are accepted prior to our membership year, which begins in September and runs through August. Visitors are welcome at all meetings.
Meetings are held monthly during the membership year at St. John’s Activity Center in Fenton. Guest speaker topics include garden preparation, annual/perennial gardens, conifers, specialty gardens, pruning, etc. Our annual club-sponsored local garden tour is held, in July.
The club’s objective is “To encourage interest in all phases of home gardening, to promote community projects and environmental responsibility, and to inspire a love of nature and beauty.”
Each year the Club awards funds to 6-10 member-nominated projects or organizations that meet its objectives of encouraging all phases of home gardening, promoting community projects and environmental responsibility, and inspiring a love of nature and beauty. The Garden Tour raises funds for these awards.
